for Region Östergötland

As part of the AI Business Consultant educational program at Hyper Island, and in cooperation with AI Sweden, worked on the assignment "AI Strategy Concretization for Region Östergötland" between December 2021 and April 2022.

Co-led a cross-functional AI concretization initiative.

Facilitated the working group focused on AI competence and workforce planning for Region Östergötland, defining the organizational structure and responsibilities for a future AI Center of Excellence.

01 — Context

The challenge

The project brought together senior administrative leaders, hospital managers from various departments, and experienced clinical practitioners from across the organization.

Several parallel workgroups addressed the strategic AI pillars of legal, governance, data, and competence, collectively building a holistic foundation for scaled AI adoption.

My responsibility was facilitating the AI competence and workforce development group, bridging strategy, change management, and operational reality.

Together, the group explored critical questions such as:

  • Which AI competencies are required internally to support long-term strategic goals?
  • What future roles and capability structures need to exist?
  • Which competencies should be developed through upskilling and internal learning initiatives?
  • Which competencies need to be recruited externally?
  • How should a future AI Center of Excellence be structured and operated?
  • What AI-related competencies are required for effective collaboration across internal teams, suppliers, academia and external partners?
